It expands by two leaves which are permanently stored under the table (You cannot take them out) and the mechanism to bring the leaves up is very simple. By just pulling the two ends apart and then adjusting the leaves into place, it becomes a table for 10 or 12 instead of 6 to 8.
When the 2 leaves are tucked away,
the table is 57 1/2"long X 39 1/2" wide.

There are a few scuff marks on the top, but not something you couldn't fix up.
